Elite Audio EA-AGUFH Inline AGU Fuse Holder for Car Audio Amp Wiring
| SKU | EA-AGUFH |
|---|
The Elite Audio EA-AGUFH is an inline AGU fuse holder that protects your car audio power wire between the battery and your amplifier. If the power cable ever shorts against the chassis, the fuse blows before the wire can overheat, protecting your vehicle, your battery and your equipment. It is a simple, affordable fix for a missing or damaged fuse holder, and a solid choice for small to mid-size amplifier installs.

Why Every Amp Install Needs a Fuse at the Battery
The fuse near the battery is not there to protect the amplifier. It protects the power wire. A bare 4 or 8 gauge cable that rubs through on a sharp edge can carry enough current to melt insulation and start a fire. An inline fuse holder like the EA-AGUFH breaks that circuit the instant current spikes. Install it as close to the battery as you can, ideally within 18 inches of the positive terminal, so the full length of the cable is protected.
Is AGU Right for Your System?
AGU fuses are the classic glass-tube style used in many car audio installs, and they are easy to find and quick to swap. They are best suited to small and mid-power systems, such as a single 4-channel amp or a modest subwoofer amp. For high-current builds, a bolt-down fuse makes a more secure connection:
| Your System | Recommended Holder |
|---|---|
| Small to mid-power amp, existing AGU fuses | EA-AGUFH AGU Fuse Holder |
| Larger amps or higher current draw | EA-MANLFH-02 Mini ANL Fuse Holder |
Choosing the Right AGU Fuse
Size the fuse to the power wire, not just the amplifier. The fuse rating should never be higher than what your cable can safely carry, and it should match or exceed the total fuse rating on your amp. Elite Audio nickel plated AGU fuses come in 10 packs in common amp ratings, so you always have a spare in the glove box.
Complete the Install
- Ferrules: Elite Audio cable ferrules keep stranded wire tight and fully seated in the holder.
- Full wiring kits: Starting a new install? The EA-PRMK8 8 gauge and EA-PRMK4 4 gauge kits include power, ground, RCA, remote and speaker wire along with a fuse holder.
- Grommets and loom: Protect the power wire wherever it passes through metal so the fuse never has to do its job.
FAQ
Where should I mount the AGU fuse holder?
On the main power wire, as close to the battery's positive terminal as possible. Keep it secured and away from moving parts and hot engine components.
What size AGU fuse should I use?
Choose a fuse that protects your power wire and covers your amplifier's total fuse rating. If you are unsure, send us your amp model and wire gauge and our team will recommend the right fuse.
Can I replace my wiring kit's fuse holder with this one?
Yes, as long as your current system uses AGU fuses and your wire fits the holder. It makes a quick replacement for a cracked or corroded holder.
AGU or Mini ANL, which is better?
Both protect your system. AGU is a convenient, widely available glass fuse for smaller systems, while Mini ANL bolts down and is the better choice for higher current amplifiers.
