D1 or D2? Pick the Right Coil for Your Amp
The DB-SA275 comes in two versions, and choosing the wrong one is the most common mistake buyers make. The "1 ohm" on the D1 refers to each of its two coils, not the final load your amplifier sees. A single DB-SA275D1 wires down to 2 ohms or 0.5 ohm, never 1 ohm. That makes the D1 the better pick for single-sub builds on a 2 ohm amp or for running a pair at 1 ohm.
| Setup | Wiring | Final Load | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1x DB-SA275D1 | Coils in series | 2 Ω | Single sub on a 2 ohm stable mono amp |
| 1x DB-SA275D1 | Coils in parallel | 0.5 Ω | Only amps rated for 0.5 ohm |
| 2x DB-SA275D1 | Each sub in series, subs in parallel | 1 Ω | Two-sub builds on a 1 ohm amp |
| 1x DB-SA275D2 | Coils in parallel | 1 Ω | Single sub at 1 ohm |
Running just one sub on a 1 ohm amplifier? The Deaf Bonce Apocalypse DB-SA275D2 is the version you want.
Amplifiers That Match the DB-SA275D1
For one sub wired to 2 ohms, the Deaf Bonce Apocalypse ATOM 2.5K PRO is close to a perfect match, putting out 1510W RMS at 2 ohms on 14.4V. It keeps the whole system inside the Apocalypse family and leaves very little power on the table.
For a pair wired to 1 ohm, the ATOM 3.5K PRO delivers 3500W RMS at 1 ohm, which is roughly 1750W per sub. That is slightly above each sub's rating, so set the gain with a multimeter or oscilloscope rather than by ear. At this power level, plan for a Big 3 wiring upgrade and a solid AGM battery such as those from XS Power to keep voltage stable.
Box Recommendations for the Apocalypse 15
Deaf Bonce does not publish an official enclosure recommendation for the DB-SA275, so the box should be built around its Thiele/Small parameters. With a Qts of 0.42 and an Fs near 30 Hz, this driver really comes alive in a ported box. Builds around 4.5 cubic feet net tuned in the high 20s Hz favor deep, rumbling lows, while a slightly smaller box tuned in the low 30s Hz trades a little depth for more punch and daily-driver output. A sealed box of roughly 2 cubic feet net works when space is tight and you want tighter, more controlled bass.
Plug the specs above into our subwoofer enclosure calculator to size your build, or browse our ported subwoofer boxes. Before you buy a box, check that the baffle fits the 14.09 inch cut-out and that there is at least 7.85 inches of depth behind it.
Where This Sub Makes the Most Sense
- Trucks and SUVs with room for a full-size ported 15 inch enclosure.
- Loud daily builds that need a sub able to take sustained power without cooking the coil.
- Pro audio systems that pair Apocalypse midrange speakers and tweeters with a matching low end.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Deaf Bonce Apocalypse 15 a 3000 watt RMS subwoofer?
No. The DB-SA275D1 is rated at 1500 watts RMS and 3000 watts max. Size your amplifier to the RMS figure, since that is what the sub handles continuously.
What is the difference between the DB-SA275D1 and DB-SA275D2?
Both share the same 15 inch cone, 2.75 inch voice coil and 1500W RMS rating. The D1 has dual 1 ohm coils (final load 2 or 0.5 ohm), and the D2 has dual 2 ohm coils (final load 1 or 4 ohm). The right one depends on how many subs you run and what load your amp is stable at.
Can I wire one DB-SA275D1 to 1 ohm?
Not with a single sub. One D1 wires to 2 ohms in series or 0.5 ohm in parallel. Two D1 subs together can reach a 1 ohm final load.
Will it fit in my vehicle?
It needs a 14.09 inch cut-out and 7.85 inches of mounting depth, plus room for the enclosure itself. Use the vehicle fitment tool at the top of the page, or call our product experts at (877) 215-8187 and they will confirm it for you.

Low End You Can Feel
Bass Built for Daily Driving and Competition
Controlled Low End
Designed for tight, repeatable bass rather than one-note boom, so basslines and kick drums stay separate.
Built to Take Power
Voice coil, spider and cone materials are matched to the rated RMS so the sub handles sustained output.
Match the Enclosure
Performance depends on the box. Sealed for accuracy, ported for output. See the specs for recommended volume and tuning.
Wire It Right
Coil configuration decides your final impedance. Match it to a load your amplifier is stable at before wiring.
