The Deaf Bonce Avatar Volcano 15 D2 is a 2,500W RMS, 15" subwoofer with dual 2 Ohm voice coils, which is the easiest way to run one big sub at full power. Wire its two coils in parallel and a single Volcano 15 D2 presents a 1 Ohm load, exactly where most high power monoblock amplifiers make their maximum output. With 38mm of Xmax, a massive ferrite motor and a die-cast aluminum basket, it delivers deep, hard-hitting bass for SPL builds and daily systems alike. Sold individually (1 subwoofer).

D2 or D1: Which Volcano 15 Do You Need?

Both versions share the same 2,500W RMS power handling and construction. The only difference is voice coil impedance, and that decides how the sub matches your amplifier.

  • Choose the D2 (this model) if you are running one subwoofer on a 1 Ohm stable amp, or two subwoofers at 2 Ohm.
  • Choose the Volcano 15 D1 if you are running two subwoofers at 1 Ohm, or one sub at 2 Ohm.

Wiring Options for the Volcano 15 D2

Setup Wiring Final Load Best For
1 Subwoofer Voice coils in parallel 1 Ohm Full power from a 1 Ohm stable monoblock
1 Subwoofer Voice coils in series 4 Ohm Amps that are not 1 or 2 Ohm stable
2 Subwoofers Coils in series, subs in parallel 2 Ohm 2 Ohm stable amps
2 Subwoofers Coils in parallel, subs in series 2 Ohm 2 Ohm stable amps

Two D2 subs with everything in parallel gives a 0.5 Ohm load. Only wire it that way if your amplifier is specifically rated for 0.5 Ohm.

Engineered to Survive 2,500 Watts

Handling 2,500W RMS takes more than a big magnet. The 4" high-temperature dual voice coil spreads heat across a large surface, and a dedicated cooling design moves air around it to keep temperatures down during long, hard sessions. The die-cast aluminum basket stays rigid where stamped steel can flex, and it also helps pull heat away from the motor.

Output comes from movement. The Volcano 15 D2 has 38mm of linear excursion, and a high-roll foam surround lets the semi-pressed paper cone travel that far while staying controlled. That combination is what produces bass you feel in your chest, not just hear.

Powering It Right

For one Volcano 15 D2, look for a monoblock that makes about 2,500W RMS at 1 Ohm. For two subs at 2 Ohm, you will need about 5,000W RMS at 2 Ohm. Clean power is what keeps subwoofers alive. A smaller amp pushed into clipping causes far more damage than a properly set, correctly sized one. At this level, plan for heavy-gauge OFC wiring, the Big 3 upgrade and extra charging capacity if you listen loud for long periods.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I run one Volcano 15 D2 at 1 Ohm?

Yes. Wire both 2 Ohm voice coils in parallel for a 1 Ohm load. This is the most popular way to run a single D2 sub.

Is this subwoofer sold as a pair?

No, it is sold individually. Order two if you are building a dual sub setup.

What enclosure should I use?

A ported enclosure is the usual choice for maximum output. Make sure the box allows for the 8.66" (220 mm) mounting depth, and brace it well, because a 2,500W sub puts a lot of force on the enclosure walls.

What does the "D2" in the model name mean?

D2 means dual 2 Ohm voice coils. Each coil is 2 Ohm, and wiring them in parallel or series gives you a 1 Ohm or 4 Ohm load.

Low End You Can Feel

Bass Built for Daily Driving and Competition

Controlled Low End

Designed for tight, repeatable bass rather than one-note boom, so basslines and kick drums stay separate.

Built to Take Power

Voice coil, spider and cone materials are matched to the rated RMS so the sub handles sustained output.

Match the Enclosure

Performance depends on the box. Sealed for accuracy, ported for output. See the specs for recommended volume and tuning.

Wire It Right

Coil configuration decides your final impedance. Match it to a load your amplifier is stable at before wiring.
