Before You Buy
This is a dual 2-ohm subwoofer. Depending on how the coils are wired (in parallel or series), the final impedance will be 1 ohm or 4 ohms for a single sub. Make sure your amplifier is stable at the impedance you choose and delivers enough clean power. Use proper gauge wiring, a solid ground and a well-built enclosure for best results.
D1 or D2? Choose based on your amplifier's stable load and how many subs you plan to run. Compare with the Avatar Volcano 12 D1 (link to your D1 page).
FAQ
How much power can the Avatar Volcano 12 D2 handle?
2,500W RMS and 5,000W maximum.
What does D2 mean?
Dual 2-ohm: the subwoofer has two 2-ohm voice coils. Wired in parallel it presents 1 ohm, and wired in series it presents 4 ohms.
What is the difference between D1 and D2?
The D1 version has dual 1-ohm coils, giving final impedance options of 0.5 ohm (parallel) or 2 ohms (series). The D2 gives 1 ohm or 4 ohms. Pick the version that best matches your amplifier's stable load and your number of subs.
What size cutout do I need?
11.14" (283 mm) diameter, with a mounting depth of 8.98" (228 mm).
Is this sold as a pair?
No. It is sold individually, as a single subwoofer.
What amplifier should I use?
A high-power monoblock amplifier that is stable at your chosen final impedance and delivers close to the 2,500W RMS rating.

Low End You Can Feel
Bass Built for Daily Driving and Competition
Controlled Low End
Designed for tight, repeatable bass rather than one-note boom, so basslines and kick drums stay separate.
Built to Take Power
Voice coil, spider and cone materials are matched to the rated RMS so the sub handles sustained output.
Match the Enclosure
Performance depends on the box. Sealed for accuracy, ported for output. See the specs for recommended volume and tuning.
Wire It Right
Coil configuration decides your final impedance. Match it to a load your amplifier is stable at before wiring.
