1. Belt Size & Tension
A smaller diameter pulley is provided to increase idle output. You may need a belt approximately ½ inch shorter than stock. We recommend purchasing 3 shorter belts to find the perfect fit.
Tight belt tension is critical — a loose belt can cause slippage, low voltage, and premature alternator failure.
2. The “Big 4” Upgrade
For maximum voltage and reliability, upgrade your vehicle’s main wiring:

Alternator positive → Battery positive

Battery negative → Chassis ground

Engine block → Chassis ground

(Recommended) Add a 4th ground: Alternator rear casing → Chassis
3. Powder-Coated Units (if applicable)
Powder coating can affect grounding. Ensure proper grounding to the alternator casing for full voltage performance. Units are tested and verified before shipping.
4. Idle RPM & Voltage
Ensure idle speed is at least 650 RPM for consistent voltage. Low RPM or loose belts are common causes of charging issues.
5. Testing & Safety
Use a clamp meter to check voltage and amperage safely.
⚠️ Never disconnect your battery while the car is running — this can instantly damage the alternator and void the warranty.

1-Wire Alternators: Only connect the main positive battery cable; harness plug can be tucked away.

Harness with Blue/Sense Wire: Attach blue wire to the alternator’s positive post.
