Its custom tooled, patented mega-platform frame carries a quad stacked 265mm (10.43-inch) motor with a 100mm magnet stack and a hyper-extended pole, with clearance for more than 4 inches of peak-to-peak travel before mechanical bottom. Sundown rates the motor force factor (BL^2/RE) at roughly 50% above the Z v.6.

A 3.3-inch, 4-layer round wire aluminum voice coil is wound on a thick aluminum former using Sundown's fat wire method for high power and abuse. The coil is cooled by a patent-pending airflow directing pole cap, six pole OD channels, sixteen gap vents and a cross-drilled, slotted top plate, while a 9mm magnet ID Faraday ring and pole-extension inductance sleeve give linear inductance.

The 95mm winding length allows 42mm of one-way linear excursion by 70% BL. The Z v.7 targets the lowest possible bass extension from a small ported box with very low distortion, and it works in enclosures commonly used for Sundown mega-platform subwoofers.

HIGHLIGHTS:

Dual 2-ohm voice coils

42mm one-way linear excursion (70% BL)

Quad stacked 265mm motor, 100mm magnet stack height

3.3-inch 4-layer round wire aluminum voice coil

9mm Faraday ring and pole-extension inductance sleeve

Patented mega-platform frame

GREAT FOR:

Ported 18-inch builds

Very low bass extension with low distortion

Builds using existing Sundown mega-platform boxes

SPECIFICATIONS:

SERIES

Z-Series v.7

SIZE

18 Inch

IMPEDANCE

Dual 2 Ohm (DVC)

VOICE COIL

3.3 Inch, 4-layer round wire aluminum

VOICE COIL WINDING LENGTH

95mm

MOTOR

Quad stacked, 265mm (10.43 in) diameter

MAGNET STACK HEIGHT

100mm (3.94 in)

LINEAR EXCURSION

42mm one-way (70% BL)

FARADAY RING

9mm magnet ID

FRAME

Patented mega-platform

SOLD AS

Each

BRAND

Sundown Audio

UPC

810199220062
